Since 1 January 2015, Röltgen has been heating in a climate-neutral manner and generating approximately 75% of its electricity requirements itself.
Experience and responsibility for generations
Röltgen stands for industrial marking, as components, products and packaging must be clearly identifiable. We have been developing marking solutions for industry for decades, ensuring that markings remain permanent, compliant with standards and easily legible. We combine precision craftsmanship with modern technology to ensure that our solutions function reliably in everyday use. Our customers also benefit from practical concepts, as we take real-world requirements into account.
Our history
Röltgen has grown as a family-run business because quality and consistency have been important from the very beginning. Initially, the focus was on classic marking tools, but the portfolio has gradually expanded. Today, we offer a wide range of marking solutions for industry and mechanical engineering, ensuring that a variety of requirements are covered. This means that our solutions can also be used in the long term.
Our working methods
Our work begins with an open-ended consultation so that we can understand your requirements precisely. We then recommend processes that make technical sense and are economically viable. We do not rely on standards at any price, but rather on solutions that are tailored to your application. This produces results that deliver in everyday use.
Our services
We carry out marking by embossing, needle embossing, laser marking, colour printing and hot stamping, as materials and areas of application vary greatly. We also manufacture coding and numbering tools as well as spare parts for machines to ensure that production processes remain stable. This means you receive comprehensive solutions from a single source.
Responsibility and partnership
Partnership means responsibility, because long-term cooperation is built on trust. That is why we support our customers from the initial idea to implementation and beyond. In short: we think ahead so that your processes run safely and reliably.

1941
The company was founded on 8 January 1941 by Mr Paul Röltgen, laying the foundation for a business that still stands for quality and consistency today. Since then, Röltgen has continued to develop, combining tradition and technical expertise in a meaningful way.

1949
After the war, a new beginning took place on Gräfrather Straße in Solingen, as reconstruction opened up new prospects. Production was gradually resumed there, enabling the company to continue growing and expanding its experience.

1952
Later, the company moved to larger premises on Friedrich-Ebert-Straße in Solingen as it continued to grow. This provided more production space, enabling processes to be improved and capacity to be expanded.

1961
This was followed by the construction of the company’s own new building on Harzstraße in Solingen, as increasing space requirements and modern production demands necessitated new structures. This enabled workflows to be optimised, resulting in more efficient processes and further growth.

1965
With the arrival of the second generation, Ms Gabriele Röltgen joined the company, combining experience with new ideas. This preserved the family tradition while at the same time driving forward the further development of the company.

1967
Siegfried Baehr’s arrival at the company brought new impetus, complementing the existing expertise and entrepreneurial experience. In 1968, Siegfried Baehr and Gabriele Röltgen married, creating a close family connection that shaped the further development of the company.

1971
The first expansion of operations on Harzstraße in Solingen became necessary as the company continued to grow. This created additional production space, enabling capacity to be expanded and processes to be improved.

1980
With the German premiere of the first computer-controlled dot peen marking machine, the company reached an important milestone, as new possibilities for automated marking emerged. This enabled markings to be implemented more precisely and efficiently, providing optimal support for modern production processes.

1991
The company celebrated a special milestone on its 50th anniversary, because half a century of successful development is anything but a matter of course. It became clear how strongly tradition and cohesion shape the company, making this anniversary an unforgettable experience.

1991
Second expansion of operations on Harzstraße in Solingen.

2000
Harzstraße was renamed Paul-Röltgen-Straße in honour of the company founder’s life’s work. His name will thus remain permanently associated with the location, while the company’s history lives on in plain sight.

2001
With the development of the first FlexiTab XL tablet press, the company took an important step forward in innovation, as it was able to precisely meet new production requirements. This resulted in a flexible solution that allows tablets to be manufactured efficiently and reproducibly.

2006
With the construction of its first photovoltaic system, the company set an example for sustainability, as it can now generate part of its energy requirements itself. This conserves resources, combining environmental awareness and economic activity in a meaningful way.

2007
With Frank and Marc Baehr taking over management, a new chapter began, bringing together fresh ideas and many years of experience. This preserves the family continuity while actively driving forward the strategic development of the company.

2008
The third expansion of the Paul-Röltgen-Straße facility was implemented because the company had continued to grow and additional capacity was needed. This created new production and work areas, enabling processes to be optimised and future requirements to be better met.

2014
The photovoltaic system was expanded in order to further increase the proportion of sustainable energy generated in-house. This allows the company to cover a larger portion of its electricity needs itself, thereby reducing its environmental impact and energy costs in the long term.

2015
All lighting has been converted to LED technology, as it is significantly more energy-efficient and durable. This reduces electricity consumption and maintenance costs, thereby lowering operating costs and conserving resources.

2016
The 75th anniversary marked a very special milestone, because three quarters of a century of company history deserves a fitting celebration. The legendary party on the ‘beach’ brought together employees, friends and partners, ensuring that this day will be remembered for a long time to come.

2018
With the introduction of the second generation of the FlexiTab XL, the successful tablet press has been consistently further developed to meet new requirements for precision and efficiency. Users benefit from optimised functions, making production processes even more reliable and economical.

2022
With the launch of the machine parts and moulds product range, the portfolio has been specifically expanded, as many customers want complete solutions from a single source. This allows components and tools to be optimally coordinated with each other, making production processes more efficient and reliable.

2025
With the introduction of the specially developed fibre laser for nameplates, a precise and efficient marking solution has been introduced, as there is increasing demand for permanent and easily legible markings. This allows nameplates to be marked quickly and reproducibly, ensuring quality, traceability and process reliability.
