The first project is the Citec-R\u00f6ltgen Cycling Team. This amateur cycling team consists of young women and men who compete very successfully in races throughout Europe. The pupils and students come mainly from Solingen, but also from all over Germany. We support the team with clothing and various bicycles, which have now developed into expensive high-tech products.<\/p>\n

Our team can be found at \u2018Rund um K\u00f6ln\u2019 and \u2018Rad am Ring\u2019 at the N\u00fcrburgring as well as at Gran Fondo races in the Alps. Gran Fondo races are marathon races (several hundred kilometres) that usually take place in very mountainous landscapes. We wish the team continued success.<\/p>\n

Our first project is the Solingen nurseries. As part of the Z\u00f6ppkesmahlzeit (Z\u00f6ppken = knife in Solingen dialect, a charity dinner for Solingen entrepreneurs) organised by Stadt-Sparkasse-Solingen, we donate a sum to the Kinderstuben every year. These donations are used to support disadvantaged children or children’s institutions in Solingen. Because everyone knows that children are our future and should be given the best possible conditions for their development.<\/p>\n

The second project we support as a sustaining member is the Hendrichs Drop Forge Industrial Museum in our immediate neighbourhood. Run by the Rhineland Regional Council, this museum shows visitors how people worked in Solingen, the \u2018workshop of the world\u2019, in the 19th and, to some extent, the 20th century.<\/p>\n

School classes in particular take advantage of the opportunity to experience live how the large drop hammer forges the blank for scissors. With a loud roar, the red-hot piece of steel is hammered into shape. Where else can you still admire this today?<\/p>\n

Other long-forgotten machines and devices that were essential to production in the past are also on display. For example, the old boiler and the 250 hp engine that drove all the machines via belts. And the great thing is that this machine still works and the children can hear the hissing and humming, feel the vibrations and the heat.<\/p>\n
